The Attachment Confessions

From FA to Secure AF: How Attachment Science Changed My Life...For Real.

From the moment I discovered attachment science, everything – literally EV-ERY-THING – about every relationship I'd ever been in finally made sense. And now, I'm learning what it takes to earn my attachment security and have the best possible relationships from now on.

Here on The Attachment Confessions, we'll dive deep into the mind-blowing and freakishly accurate world of attachment science, my childhood, my relationships, and my journey of going from FA to secure AF (if you know, you know – and if you don't know, don't worry! You will soon).

We'll also highlight guests sharing their own attachment lived experiences, bring on a variety of attachment & relationship experts, and sprinkle in listener Q&A episodes.

Throughout The Attachment Confessions, you'll have a ring-side seat to my attachment healing adventure. We'll get into some pretty heavy stuff but have ourselves a good time while doing so! And who knows, maybe you'll also be inspired to embark on your own attachment healing journey. That's my hope, at least!

So whether you're an Anxious Preoccupied, a Dismissive Avoidant, a Fearful Avoidant, OR the holy grail of them all – Securely Attached – all are welcome.

Let's freaking go, y'all!

What’s up, Confessions Fam! Welcome back to the pod for episode 22!
Today we are putting a bow on our current four-part series where we've been diving deep into each attachment style one by one.
The final feature? Our few-and-far-between Born Secures!
Have you ever looked at a couple and thought to yourself, “Man – that right there is straight-up relationship goals!” – It’s a refreshingly beautiful sight to see, isn’t it??
So today we’re getting an up-close and personal look at how in the world our lucky born secures turned out to be so darn healthy and stable.
Those that formed a secure attachment from the start unfortunately do not make up the majority of the attachment styles, but thanks to the amazement that is the human brain, those of us who weren’t blessed to be born secure still have a chance to reprogram our insecure patterns and work towards earning our own attachment security.
Whether you’re an Anxious Preoccupied, a Dismissive Avoidant, or a fellow {healing} Fearful Avoidant, today’s Born & Raised Secure Deep Dive will leave you inspired to do the inner work so that you, too, can experience healthy, secure love.
Here on The Attachment Confessions, you'll have a ring-side seat to my attachment healing adventure. My hope is by bringing attachment science to those of you who have never heard of it before and by sharing my own story, you'll also be motivated to embark on your own attachment healing journey.

Hello everyone! Welcome back to The Attachment Confessions for episode 21!
Today's episode is part three of our current four-part series where we're examining each attachment style even further.
This week's feature? The Fearful Avoidant.
**Alexa: Cue Katy Perry's 2008 hit "Hot N Cold"**
Sometimes referred to as Disorganized Attachment, the FA is the most complex of all the attachment styles. And not to brag, but – it’s also the attachment style of yours truly ; )
Have you ever wondered why you tend to be hot one minute, cold the next in your relationships? Ever been baffled by the on again, off again patterns of a former flame?
Well, buckle up – today’s Fearful Avoidant deep dive is about to finally make the relationship light bulbs illuminate like never before.
Here on The Attachment Confessions, you'll have a ring-side seat to my attachment healing adventure. My hope is by bringing attachment science to those of you who have never heard of it before and by sharing my own story, you'll also be inspired to embark on your own attachment healing journey.

Hello everybody! Welcome back to The Attachment Confessions for episode 20!
Today's episode is part two of our current four-part series where we're dissecting each attachment style even further.
This week's feature? The Dismissive Avoidant.
There's a reason why this insecure attachment style seems to get the most attention of them all. The DA is oddly enough the most predictable attachment style, yet oftentimes the most frustrating for anyone who's ever had their heart broken by a Dismissive Avoidant (same girl, same).
So sit back, relax, and get ready to have your mind blown with today's DA deep dive.
Here on The Attachment Confessions, you'll have a ring-side seat to my attachment healing adventure. My hope is by bringing attachment science to those of you who have never heard of it before and by sharing my own story, you'll also be inspired to embark on your own attachment healing journey.

Hello, everybody! Happy Valentine's Week! Welcome back for episode 18 of The Attachment Confessions.
On this week's episode, we're doing a deep dive into a topic that I've received a number of questions about since starting the podcast – love languages.
The 5 Love Languages is a concept developed by Dr. Gary Chapman in 1992, and his work has shaped how millions of people around the world understand the concept of giving and receiving love.
So, in the spirit Valentine's Day, we're going to take a look at the difference between love languages vs attachment styles. They are certainly intertwined, but the science shows us that our formed attachment style is actually what predicts our preferred love languages.
Whether you're an Anxious Preoccupied, a Dismissive Avoidant, a fellow Fearful Avoidant, or Securely Attached – knowing and understanding your own and your partner's attachment style and preferred love languages is an absolute game-changer in creating a healthy, successful relationship.
Wanna find out you or your partner's love language? Take the quiz here:

Here on The Attachment Confessions, you'll have a ring-side seat to my attachment healing adventure. My hope is by bringing attachment science to those of you who have never heard of it before and by sharing my own story, you'll also be inspired to embark on your own attachment healing journey.
Happy Valentine's Day!

What's up, everybody! Welcome to episode 17 of The Attachment Confessions!
On today's episode, we're diving into a topic that is a major factor in either making or breaking a relationship – how couples handle conflict.
Fights. Arguments. Tension. Disagreements. Misunderstandings. All-out war.
There are few things more dreaded in life than when there's trouble in paradise. Chances are, you're a lot like me – AKA you've been an absolute train wreck at handling conflict in your relationships.
Conflict. Is. Inevitable. But a primary element that sets secure couples apart from the insecures is that they've mastered the art of effective conflict management.
So today, we're taking a look at the tactics secure couples swear by when it comes to handling the hard times the best way possible.
Whether you're an Anxious Preoccupied, a Dismissive Avoidant, or a fellow {healing} Fearful Avoidant, we could all stand to learn a thing or two when it comes to dealing with discord in a more healthy, mature, secure manner. And this week's episode is sure to set you on a path to handling the dreaded C word like a champ!
As mentioned in today's episode, here is a link to attachment expert Dr. Sarah Hensley's "Achieving Your Attachment Security" online coaching program. In this program, Dr. Hensley provides her step-by-step no-fail conflict resolution plan. I wish I had this plan in my former relationships!! I will definitely be using it moving forward.

Hello confessions fam!! Welcome back to The Attachment Confessions!
On today's episode, we're diving into a topic that has been all the rage on social media in the dating world, especially over the last few years – love bombing.
Not gonna lie you guys, just the mention of that term gives me full-on body chills. In the worst way!
Love bombing is essentially bombarding a new romantic interest with over-the-top attention, affection, compliments, and the extravagant, finer things in life very early on in the getting-to-know-someone phase. I've been love-bombed a time or two, and let me tell you, it can feel absolutely amazing! For those of us with an insecure attachment, that is (healing Fearful Avoidant, party of 1, right here).
However, love bombing is not a true testament of someone's motives, character, or {realistic} true feelings. In fact, there are two types of love bombing to be aware of – narcissistic-driven and attachment-driven. In today's episode, we'll break down each type along with some helpful tips on how to appropriately spot and handle a love bomber in action.
Whether you're an Anxious Preoccupied, a Dismissive Avoidant, a fellow Fearful Avoidant, or Securely Attached – this week's episode is sure to set you up for success next time you feel premature love grenades coming your way.
Here on The Attachment Confessions, you'll have a ring-side seat to my attachment healing adventure. My hope is by bringing attachment science to those of you who have never heard of it before and by sharing my own story,  you'll also be inspired to embark on your own attachment healing journey. That's my hope, at least!
